The Asp, native to the Danube basin, is a carnivorous member of the Cyprinidae family that has been colonizing French waters for the past ten years.
This sport fish par excellence drives anglers crazy with its stalking and the violence of its attacks. Indeed, the Asp, with its streamlined body and oversized caudal fin, provokes explosive surface attacks where it literally smashes into white fish. From the very first contact with this fish, you'll be hooked!
It's a fishery that puts your heart to the test and sometimes makes your brain knot. But it's great to see your surface lure being blown away in a spray of water.

Stalking the Asp is an active, exploratory style of fishing where the lure is often retrieved at high speed. This super fish mainly hunts close to the surface and responds well to stickbaits, jerkbaits, lipless and metal lures between 7 and 12cm. Blanks need to be good casters, fast enough to animate correctly but with a nice curve to control the fight and avoid stalling.
NFC EFX 703 IM : 'The blank for light fishing and when asps are edging'. 2m13 3-15g, it allows you to search for Asps with small lures when they are hunting in the fry. Versatile and a weapon of choice for summer fishing. Like most NFC Blanks, it's progressive in the fight and its sensitivity is a plus for passing small soft lures if asps don't respond to PN.
NFC SJ 803 IM 2.43m 5-20g. Ideal for lures between 7 and 10cm, it allows you to cast far and fish efficiently. Its conical shape gives it a high reserve of power for its category. And like its little brother the EFX 703, it has all the qualities of NFC blanks.
Rodbuilders' Republic PPS86MH-2The ultimate blank for asp stalking in large environments : 2.60m 7-28g. It allows you to reach far-away spots and its length is an asset for long-distance casting. When fishing far away, it's essential to have a good leverage arm to absorb the braid's belly when striking. Its dry action allows you to animate 8 to 12cm lures energetically and make them move in currents. Once under pressure in combat, this blank expresses a very progressive curve that will dampen the typical ball-strikes of asps in the seconds following the attack. Despite its length, this blank is very light and well-balanced, which is important when you're spending hours on dry animation. With 2 equal strands, it's easy to carry.
As you'll be casting repeatedly over long distances and recovering quickly, we recommend spinning assemblies and a comfortable reel seat like the Fuji IPS . For shore fishing where casting distance is important, a long heel is recommended to support casts. EVA, cork or carbon grips are a matter of taste. Don't hesitate to give us the desired length between butt and reel foot so that we can adjust the bushings. You can also ask us to change the color of the handle kit rings (while stocks last).
We offer 3 Fuji Guide packs in different finishes, to suit different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by Alconite ceramic Guides with an Inox frame, offering excellent value for money and suitable for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by SIC ceramic and Inox-framed Guides. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top of the Fuji range is represented by the Titanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made from Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, so smaller tunnel guides can be used. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
