Blank Eging Matagi T. Russel Super Seven: Performance and versatility

Blank Eging Matagi T. Russel Super Seven : Performance et polyvalence

The Matagi Super Seven Blank Eging / Squid

The increasingly shorter and colder days at the end of the year severely limit the amount of time you can spend by the water... But for those lucky enough to live by the sea, this is also the season for eging / Squid fishing, especially at night. Often a propitious moment![/caption] I discovered this type of fishing a few years ago, when I moved to Brest. The ingredients for success are simple: a few good lures (jigs), a spinning reel size 2500 (or close), a good rod and the motivation to face the cheek-stinging cold. I recommend port areas where the tides have less impact (easy access to the water) and where you can go fishing almost every day. You'll find, however, that weather conditions and tide times have an influence on your fishing yield! The ideal rod should be supple enough, very sensitive (essential point) and with a well-rounded action in combat to avoid stalling. Since suppleness and sensitivity don't mix, it's been difficult to find the ideal blank. And yet it does exist! Matagi T-Russel Lesson PT Super Seven. The eging Lesson PT range is a series of 4 blanks designed for cephalopod fishing. There are two sizes and two powers: 2.29/2.54m and M/H. I opted for the 2.29m in M power. I didn't want the blank to be too long (even though it's a two-strand blank) to be able to drop squid off the quay more easily. The choice of power corresponds to the lures I mostly use, Yamashita jigs in sizes #2.5 to #3.5 with an optimal comfort zone on the #3s. For larger or leaded models, the H will be more suitable. [caption id="attachment_393" align="alignleft" width="580"]matagi_super_seven_rodhouse2_rodbuilding_eging A good rod often makes the difference for squid: action and sensitivity are the key points of success and the Matagi T-Russel Lesson PT Super Seven meets these conditions.[/caption] When fishing, the action is different from anything else on the market: the rod is stiff/dry and very fast. This provides all the Necessary sensitivity and is really pleasant. However, the rod is not very tapered and rounds off very quickly in a fight! The power reserve is sufficient for large specimens and light enough for small tubes. Personally, I've totally adopted this action for cephalopods and would find it hard to go back! You just have to find the right tempo for the animation if you're used to fishing with a softer rod ... but it comes very quickly! You just have to be gentler with your animations. Depending on location, the season runs until the end of January or February, so don't hesitate!
