BIM Tackle: chatterbaits and bucktails for predators

2021: Founded by Bo Dai and Matthias Lothy
France: Lures designed in France
Eco-minded: Lead and plastics replaced wherever possible

The story of the brand

Two anglers and a plan for cleaner lures

BIM Tackle was set up in 2021 by Bo Dai and Matthias Lothy. Matthias Lothy is an artist who has followed the rise of lure fishing for about twenty years. Bo Dai has fished for thirty years and has entered more than 50 competitions in Asia. Their idea was to design effective lures with a lighter footprint on nature.

That idea shapes every design. The brand looks to replace lead and plastics wherever it can. The Shallow Cruiser head, for example, is made of lead-free resin. Other models mix synthetic fibres with natural materials, such as the bucktail and rabbit fur of the Crazy Rabbit.

The Chacha Bait is the first lure Matthias Lothy designed for BIM Tackle. This cross between a blade jig and a bucktail was built for pike and catfish. Rodhouse now stocks the Chacha Bait, the Crazy Rabbit, the Shallow Cruiser and its VV Cruiser grub, plus the Tigris Finesse jig and the Panthera craw.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about the brand

Who founded BIM Tackle and where does the brand come from?

BIM Tackle is a French brand founded in 2021 by Bo Dai and Matthias Lothy. Its lures are designed in France. Matthias Lothy, an artist and angler, designs models such as the Chacha Bait.

The brand has a clear goal: to offer effective lures while reducing their impact on the environment.

What is the difference between the BIM Tackle Chacha Bait and Crazy Rabbit?

The Chacha Bait is a hybrid between a blade jig and a bucktail. Its metal blade creates strong vibrations. The 45 g model is 28 cm long and fishes between 1.5 and 5 m, mainly for pike and catfish.

The Crazy Rabbit combines bucktail, rabbit fur and synthetic fibres for a softer swim. Its interchangeable head lets you match the weight to depth and retrieve speed.

Are BIM Tackle lures lead-free?

BIM Tackle aims to replace lead and plastics in its lures wherever possible. The Shallow Cruiser Rig is one example: its head is made of lead-free resin and its collar is 100% synthetic fibre.

Not every model is built the same way. Check each product page for the exact materials.

How to choose your BIM Tackle lure

The right model depends on depth, target fish and how fast you retrieve. Here are a few simple pointers.

To search water between 1.5 and 5 m, pick the 45 g Chacha Bait, or the Junior version for smaller fish.
For a soft, slow swim, go for a Crazy Rabbit: its interchangeable head lets you adjust the weight.
Along weed edges and in shallow water, the Shallow Cruiser sinks very slowly thanks to its resin head.
To rig a large soft lure, the Shallow Cruiser Rig takes the VV Cruiser grub.
For perch and bass, fish the Tigris Finesse close to the bottom, from 3.5 to 7 g.
In stained water and thick weed, the Panthera craw vibrates as soon as it sinks.

If in doubt, our technicians will help you choose the right lure and rod for your fishing.
