The story of the brand

Gary Loomis, fifty years of carbon in Woodland

In 1974, Gary Loomis starts working with carbon fiber to make rod blanks. He founds G. Loomis in 1982 in Woodland, Washington. The company later becomes a subsidiary of Shimano.

In 2009, Gary Loomis starts again from scratch in the same town. He creates North Fork Composites to produce blanks, and Edge Rods to turn them into finished rods. To reach the build quality he wants, his team has to invent and build new machines.

Edge Rods still makes its rods in Woodland, for bass, saltwater and fly fishing. Gary Loomis is a member of the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame for his work on rod materials and design. From Sarzeau, Rodhouse distributes the brand in Europe under the name Edge Rods Europe.
