Pacific Bay was born in the late 1970s, in California. At the time, rod makers needed a reliable and affordable source for their components. The brand took on this mission. It became a single American source of guides and tip tops for them.

In 1998, Pacific Bay International moved from California to Sequim, in the state of Washington. Its catalog grew to include rod blanks, reel seats, grips and Rodsmith rod wrappers. The brand also developed guides with Hialoy rings, a ceramic high in aluminum oxide and polished with diamond.

Today, Pacific Bay makes and imports its components, and produces private label series. The brand signed an exclusive license with Outdoor Grips for an ergonomic reel seat. Rodhouse lists its Stay True and Metallic wrapping threads.
