The ideal size of rear grip on a fishing rod depends on the fishing technique. For fishing requiring long casts, opt for a longer rear grip (e.g. a 50 cm reel foot for tuna fishing). On the other hand, when fishing from a seated position, use a short butt so as not to be hindered by clothing.
