Sico-Lure: French trout lures designed in Charente

2017: Founded by Baptiste Thouraud
Charente: Lures designed in France
2 years: Of development for the Sico First

The story of the brand

A tribute to a trout fishing grandfather

Baptiste Thouraud took up fishing as a child, next to his grandfather. Years later, in 2017, he set up his own lure brand. He named it after that grandfather, in a short form: Sico. It was his way of thanking him for passing on trout fishing.

In its early days, Sico-Lure only made handmade lures, carved from balsa wood. The first model was the Sico First, a trout minnow. Its unusual shape, with two humps, makes it easy to spot. The brand then added small insect imitations, such as grasshoppers and beetles.

In 2024, Sico-Lure brought out the Perfect, a sinking minnow meant to sit alongside the Sico First. The same year, the brand launched Seaco Lure, a range built for bass fishing. The Blenny Shad joined this range in 2025. Sico-Lure still designs its lures in Charente.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about the brand

Who created Sico-Lure and where does the brand name come from?

Sico-Lure was created in 2017 by Baptiste Thouraud. He learned to fish as a child with his grandfather. The brand name is a short form of that grandfather's name. Baptiste Thouraud wanted to thank him for passing on his passion for trout fishing.

Where are Sico-Lure lures designed?

Sico-Lure designs its lures in Charente, France. In its early days, the brand only made handmade lures, carved from balsa wood. Some models are still put together by hand, such as the Vibro spinner and its hammered blade. Each new lure goes through long development work: close to two years for the Sico First.

What kinds of fishing does Sico-Lure design its lures for?

Trout is still the core of Sico-Lure. The brand designs minnows, spoons and insect imitations for river fishing. It later developed lures for pike, perch and zander. Since 2024, its Seaco Lure range has targeted bass at sea, with models such as the Blenny Shad.

Sico-Lure, a French trout lure brand

Sico-Lure is a French lure brand based in Charente. It presents itself as the first French brand devoted to trout fishing with lures. Its minnows, spoons and small lures copy the prey found in rivers. Each model is drawn up to fish in the current.

The brand then widened its scope. It also designs lures for pike, perch and zander. Its sea range, Seaco Lure, targets bass. The Blenny Shad is part of it. This 9.5 cm soft lure copies a blenny, a small fish that lives on the bottom.

Slow and careful design work

Sico-Lure takes its time with each lure. The Sico First took close to two years of research and testing. The Perfect and the Blenny Shad each took about a year and a half. These design choices show in the water.

Sico First: two humps on the back and anal fin, for a straight and balanced fall.
Lifelike finish: engraved mouth and gills, raised scales.
Perfect: two tungsten weights, set for a tail first fall.
Blenny Shad: a hook point hidden in the dorsal fin, to get through rocks and weed.
Vibro: a spinner put together by hand, with a hammered blade.
Trout lures rigged with a single hook, not a treble.

The brand makes its minnows in sinking and suspending versions. Colours range from natural shades, such as minnow or trout, to bright ones with a UV belly.
