The standard Jack Hammer needs no introduction, but it stays large for a lot of our waters. The Baby Jack settles that: same design, same instant blade start, in a size that gets past pressured fish and works on perch. At 14.08 EUR it is the most rational way into the Evergreen range.

A downsized blade that vibrates higher and starts instantly

Downsizing the blade of a bladed jig changes two things. The vibration frequency rises, producing a tighter signal, closer to a small baitfish than a full size model. And the flash becomes more discreet, a real advantage in clear water or on fish that have already seen plenty of blades over the season. The direct connection between blade and head, on the other hand, keeps the main strength of the range: the vibration sets in from the first turn of the handle, with no need to speed up to get the lure going.

Evergreen places the 3/8 oz between 0.30 and 1 m and the 1/2 oz between 1 and 2 m for the Jack Hammer range, figures that shift with your line diameter, retrieve speed and trailer. In practice, take the 3/8 oz to skim a weed bed or run along an edge, and the 1/2 oz as soon as you want to hold the layer under the surface. A choice that sits well with the rest of your lures for black bass, and the size lends itself nicely to big perch in late summer.

Rear weighted head, DECOY 3/0 and double trailer keeper

The weight is shifted towards the back of the head, with an enlarged collar. The lure gains casting distance and takes a horizontal posture underwater rather than nosing down, which counts on a compact model with little inertia. The hardware follows the same deliberate finesse logic: a medium wire DECOY 3/0, which penetrates better than heavy wire on long distance hooksets, paired with a DECOY Egg Snap that lets the blade work freely. Two steel wire prongs lock the trailer and stop it sliding down over a series of bites, a detail that saves a lot of soft plastics over a day.

On a compact bladed jig, the trailer drives most of the behaviour. A slim profile such as the Cheetah's Pintail preserves the high frequency vibration, where a bulky trailer slows it.
