Our take on the VSS Fuji

The VSS Fuji is a very reliable reel seat and really comfortable in the hand. It is slim, so it stays light, yet it remains pleasant in big fights.

A slim reel seat that sits well in the hand

13 mm inside diameter for light blanks

With a 13 mm inside diameter, size 16 suits blanks that are not too powerful or too tapered. We are talking about light to medium rods with a fairly slim butt. And in a fight? The diameter in the hand is excellent: slim enough to stay light, yet comfortable enough for big fights.

On the other hand, it is not the right choice for a powerful or very tapered blank. In that case, go for size 17 (17 mm inside diameter), which you will find for example in the Handle Kit VSS 17.

Thread up or thread down, with or without KDPS16

The VSS Fuji is compatible with grips for VSS16 or 17 respectively, depending on the size, such as the Soft Touch Long Grip VSS 16 for size 16, and it allows a partially wrapped grip mounting. It can be mounted thread up or thread down (reversed mounting), depending on the hand position you prefer. A small subtlety: for the locking side, there are two options.

• As a no-foregrip build, with nothing above the thread.
• With a KDPS16 locking nut in place of the original nut, for a cleaner finish.
