It belongs to the family of swimbaits that need no particular animation, which makes it an honest way into big baits. An action you steer with the reel handle

The Seven was originally developed for the American market and bass fishing, before being adopted in France for pike and perch. Its principle is simple: instead of reproducing a fish's swimming action with a diving lip or a rigid body, it reproduces it with a jointed structure that undulates on its own. A jointed swimbait of this kind does not need to be worked, it only needs to be moved forward. That explains its success with anglers discovering large volumes, and its presence in the boxes of those chasing black bass as well as river predators.

Why seven segments change the action

Most jointed lures rely on two or three sections linked by rings, which gives a segmented and often noisy movement. Here the rigid parts are assembled by an internal woven technical textile frame, with no visible metal part between the segments. The result is a continuous S action that travels through the lure from head to tail with no break point, and above all without the slightest noise. On educated fish or in clear water, that discretion is often what separates a follower from a strike.

Since the lure is a slow sinker, the sinking phase stays usable: the segments keep working on the way down, which leaves you the option of adding pauses during the retrieve.

6 or 7 inches: matching the spot and the tackle

The 6 inch, 15 cm for around sixty grams, still works with a sturdy off-the-shelf pike setup. It is the size to favour for covering banks, weed beds and water from one to three metres. The 7 inch and its 105 g belong to another category: you need a rod able to take that weight on the cast, or you will give up after an hour.
