Product description

Our take on the Nays DRV

The Nays DRV is the Nays shad that was missing between the PRDTR and the VNM. It wobbles hard and flashes its flanks even when you crawl it back. For zander on a slow straight retrieve at dusk, it's right in the sweet spot!

The Nays DRV at a glance

A shad that rolls from the slowest retrieve

Slow retrieve on a light jig head: its core job

The big plus of the DRV is how it swims at low speed. Even reeled in very slowly, it wobbles and flashes its flanks. So you can rig it on a light jig head and let it swim just above the bottom.

That's exactly what you want for zander in low light, when they hunt along the margins or on shallow flats. It pushes quite a bit of water, which helps fish find it when visibility drops.

4.8 or 6.5 inches, zander, perch and pike

The DRV targets zander first. The 4.8-inch (12 cm) is the all-rounder for zander, big perch and average pike. The 6.5-inch (16.5 cm) steps up with its 26.8 g for big zander and pike.

In the range, it sits between the PRDTR 2.0, with its wide body and steady swim, and the high-frequency Nays VNM shad. If you like the VNM but want more roll, this is your lure.

On the other hand, it is not a finesse lure. On educated fish or in cold, clear water, you'll be better off with a more discreet model like the Nays SPLT.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Nays DRV, the PRDTR 2.0 and the VNM?

All three are paddle tail shads from the same brand. The PRDTR 2.0 has a wide body and a steady swim with a subtle roll. The VNM vibrates at high frequency with a slight roll. The DRV sits in between, with a slimmer silhouette and a much stronger roll that makes its flanks flash.
