The Glénan archipelago is located in south Finistère, around ten kilometers from the coast. It comprises 9 main islands and a large number of islets. This former privateer's lair is a great playground for water sports activities, including the prestigious Glénans sailing school, based on the island of Penfret. If you'd like to eat or drink, you can set foot on Île Saint-Nicolas and visit the "La Boucane" bar/restaurant. The interior of the archipelago is mostly sand and kelp. This area is known as the "chamber". The water clarity here is exceptional. Whether you're windsurfing, kitesurfing, fishing or just swimming, the "chamber" is a paradise. Outside, the water is also crystal-clear, albeit less so. On the other hand, compared with other fishing areas in Brittany, there's virtually no current. The fishing area is vast and offers the opportunity to practice a multitude of techniques. Sea bass fishing is the main attraction, as it's one of the best places to beat your record. As for divers, they take advantage of the water's visibility to target sparids such as gilthead bream, but also red bream / porgy, which are present in large numbers. At the end of the season, pelagic fish such as Bonito and yellowtail horse mackerel are also present. Start configuration

Matching blanks

The average depth of the 'chamber' is around 5m. So, of course, you'll be fishing with finesse soft lures, but you'll also be fishing a lot with hard lures, more specifically jerk minnows. On the outshores, the near-absence of current and the 'crystalline' water means that the fish follow and voluntarily climb the water layer. Despite this, some days you'll be fishing the drop-offs, like at basse Perennes or basse an ero, with 15cm lures and 45g lead heads. Glenan fishing can be done in depths of 1.5m or 30m.

  1. MB 733-1 X-Ray, NFC 2m21 7-28gr: This blank is perfect for covering the low range of lures used. This remarkably balanced blank is versatile and will be at ease on all local techniques.
  2. SJ 736-1 X-Ray , NFC 2m21, 10-40gr: If there were only one, this would be it. Although there's no such thing as a magic blank, this one allows you to cover a wide range of techniques, thanks in particular to its intermediate length and equally versatile action. And between you and me, it's Goulven's favorite blank for fishing the Black minnow zone.
  3. MB 807-1 HM, NFC 2m43, 20-60gr: The ultimate blank for Drift and lift fishing as well as surface lure fishing with the larger models.

Compatible guides

We offer 3 Fuji Guide packs in different finishes, to suit different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by the Alconite ceramic Guide with Inox frame, offering excellent value for money and suitable for occasional use. Guides are made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by SIC ceramic and Inox-framed Guides. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top of the Fuji range is represented by the Titanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made from Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, so smaller tunnel guides can be used. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
