Sight nymphing with the Rainshadow Eternity 905

Sight nymphing, Rainshadow Eternity 905!

By Nathan Michalet.

I've owned my Eternity in 9-foot Silk 5 for 2 seasons now. After all this time, I can now give you some feedback on this product. For 6 months I fished with the original blue-painted rod, then after much thought I decided to remove the varnish. The shiny look was a little too pronounced for sight fishing which requires extreme discretion.

The cane.

Light, fast, smooth, that's how I'd describe it. Indeed, at 85g mounted, this rod is a featherweight! Its tip action remains smooth and pleasant. You can easily whip with it in the tank all day long, without getting tired. It has a very acceptable power reserve for a 5. Silk.

.

I offer you a video to see the rod in work and thus understand its action:

And in fishing, what does it look like?

This is a very light rod with a small Danielsson Dry Fly reel and super-handling with Triangle Tapper # 5 line. Rolling casts are instinctive and it's easy to make nice loops, even with little line out.

I only use this rod for sight fishing and Dry fly fishing. I'm particularly happy with it because it's very fast and comes back into place quickly. This is very important for these types of fishing where you need to limit false casts as much as possible to avoid being spotted...

With fish?

After 3 seasons of use, I've only once found this rod's power limit.

I fish mainly in 14-15 hundredths. You can already pull quite a bit with fluoros and nylon of this diameter. The rod has an ideal fighting behaviour with a good hold on the fish without being stiff as a post. Pleasure on fish from 15 cm to 50.

For its range of use, I think that, for difficult or fine fishing, the rod supports 10 hundredths and comes to the limit in 16.5 hundredths for special fishing (big fish, Obstacle, etc).

Conclusion.

I'm very satisfied with this rod. It's very pleasant because of its lightness and is suitable for people who would like to fish Dry fly or Sight nymphing on medium to large rivers. It also works well in reservoirs. This rod can be tested at the Clermont 2018 show on our stand ;-)
