GoodBait was born in Japan in 2021. Its founder, Shin Yamada, designs saltwater lures for very big fish. The name works as a rule: each model has to earn the title of a good bait. The brand looks to offshore and rock shore fishing.

The BnD180F sums up the method. One lure gives four actions, depending on the retrieve: diving, popping, bubble slalom and minnow swimming. The BassDrum, the MonsterZone and the FZR188F followed, the last one a diving pencil that floats level. The Respect, the first GoodBait minnow, was designed with the Uojarashi Koubou workshop.

In 2024, GoodBait and Murata Kimpaku launched the DNA80 hologram. The two teams measured how sardine and mackerel skin reflects light, then copied it. Today the brand targets giant trevally, amberjack, bluefin and yellowfin tuna, from boats and from the shore.
