Description du produit

Why we added the Respect to our range

The Respect is GoodBait's first minnow, born from a collaboration between Shin Yamada and the Japanese Uojarashi Koubou workshop. What convinced us to stock it is the promise kept: a compact 19 cm body that still takes a 3/0 treble, carried by a 1.8 mm through-wire. Enough to go after giant trevally from the shore without worrying about strength.

Respect at a glance

  • Type: floating minnow (Floating) for saltwater fishing
  • Respect 190F: 190 mm, 73 g, line up to PE8, 180 lb leader, treble up to 3/0
  • Respect 170F: 170 mm, 47 g, PE6 line, treble up to 2/0
  • Structure: 1.8 mm steel through-wire
  • Action: tight rolling swim, compact "one bite" size
  • Species: shore giant trevally (GT), amberjack, hiramasa, tuna
  • Design: GoodBait (Shin Yamada) x Uojarashi Koubou workshop

The floating minnow built for the fight from shore

Compact yet armed for giant trevally

The Respect is based on a simple idea: offer a saltwater floating minnow compact enough to pass for a believable prey, while accepting the hardware and mechanical strength the most powerful fish demand. At 190 mm (or 170 mm for the 170F), it stays in a "one bite" size that triggers, where bulkier lures leave wary fish unmoved. The 1.8 mm through-wire and the option of a 3/0 treble on the 190F make it a serious tool for giant trevally fished from the rocks. Its tight rolling swim works from the slowest speeds, which helps you exploit the white water right against the rocks.

190F or 170F: which to choose

Both sizes share the same floating concept but do not cover the same tackle. The 190F (73 g) casts on PE8 with a 180 lb leader and targets the most committed fishing, while the 170F (47 g) is happy on PE6 and takes trebles up to 2/0, ideal for amberjack and mid-size pelagics. The fact that these minnows float changes everything near the rocks: they keep their swimming depth even at a sharp line angle, which stops them rising at the wrong moment. To round out your approach, browse the shop's saltwater lures and pair the Respect with a rod for amberjack suited to big coastal fish.
