The story of the brand

Born in Berlin, built for predator fishing

Nays was born in Berlin in 2019. Its founders, Dustin Schöne and Marcel Mandry, shared one idea: to give fishing a young, modern image. Dustin Schöne comes from the film world. He directed music videos for years before turning his camera to fishing, especially in Norway.

The brand's first soft bait is the PRDTR, a shad made for zander and pike. It left its mark on the first edition of Zander Pro, a contest won by Team Nays with, among other fish, a 101 cm zander caught on this lure. The brand has since released a 2.0 version.

Today the Nays catalogue runs from finesse soft baits to the jointed TRN 190 swimbait, with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits in between. The brand also makes clothing. It shares much of its world on video, on YouTube and Instagram, where the founders film their sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about the brand

Who founded the Nays brand?

Nays was founded in Berlin in 2019 by Dustin Schöne and Marcel Mandry. Dustin Schöne is an angler and filmmaker who directed music videos before focusing his videos on fishing. The two founders run the company Nays GmbH together, based in Berlin. Their aim is to present fishing as a modern lifestyle.

What kind of fishing does Nays design its lures for?

Nays designs its lures for predator fishing: pike, zander and perch. Its soft baits include shads, craws, creature baits, grubs and finesse baits. Its hard baits cover jerkbaits, crankbaits and topwater lures. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and skirted jigs complete the range.

What is the Rapid Switch System on the Nays TRN 190?

The TRN 190 is the jointed swimbait from Nays: two sections, 190 mm including the tail, about 56 g and a slow-floating action. The Rapid Switch System lets the tail and lip be swapped quickly. The lure can move from an S-curve action to a more aggressive one. An insert weight inside the body sets the running depth, and BKK swivels join the two sections.

Nays, predator lures born in Berlin

Nays is a German brand focused on predator fishing. Dustin Schöne and Marcel Mandry founded it in Berlin in 2019. Its team brings together anglers, designers and engineers. Nays designs its lures for three species: pike, zander and perch. The company behind the brand, Nays GmbH, has its head office in Berlin.

The range starts with soft baits: shads, craws, creature baits, grubs and finesse baits for the Ned rig. It also includes hard baits such as jerkbaits, crankbaits and topwater lures. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, skirted jigs and jig heads round out the catalogue. The brand also runs its own clothing line.

A modern take on the fishing lure

Nays wants to turn fishing into a modern lifestyle for a new generation of anglers. You can see it in the product design: clean shapes and a visual identity close to streetwear. The engineering side stays serious. Each model is developed in Germany and tested on the water before release. A few principles run through the whole range:

A realistic swimming action, sought on every model.
Scented soft baits, such as the garlic-infused PRDTR 50.
Hard baits built for long casts and an erratic action.
A modular swimbait, the TRN 190, whose tail and lip swap in a few seconds.
Parts chosen to last, such as the BKK swivels that join the two sections of the TRN 190.

The TRN 190 sums up this approach. This two-section swimbait measures 190 mm and weighs about 56 g. A weight fitted inside the body sets its running depth.
