My advice: although this rod can cast a 4-weight line, I recommend using a WF3 line… That is the configuration in which you will get the very most out of it…

Our take on the MAESTRO

Designing a rod with Pascal Cognard, three-time individual world champion, means drawing on decades of thinking about fly rod design, especially for precision and finesse fishing. The MAESTRO is a 10' #3/4 that lets you fish at short, medium and long range, with dry flies or sight nymphing, while staying in control of every presentation. His signature, laser-engraved on the cork grip, reflects the champion's direct involvement in this project.

MAESTRO: a 10-footer built for the finest drifts

The MAESTRO was developed for fishing situations where stealth and presentation quality make the difference. Its 10-foot length lets you keep your distance from the fish and lift the line above current seams to extend a natural drift. Its moderate tip action, combined with perfect balance (thanks to the downlocking reel seat), allows quick yet gentle strikes suited to fine tippet diameters. All while keeping enough power to control the fight, right up to the net.

Carbon, graphene and Lightwire guides: Pascal Cognard's rod in detail

The rod is built on a 10' #3/4 carbon and graphene blank, which has been polished and left raw, unpainted and unvarnished, so as not to slow down the action. As a result, the tip is extremely light and fast, with no inertia. The very light Lightwire (thin-wire) guides also help lighten the tip section. What's more, with 13 guides, one more than on a standard 10-foot rod, the line is perfectly guided, with no sagging or slapping between the guides. Thanks to graphene, vibrations are damped instantly.
This choice follows a principle Pascal has long applied to his high-end fly rod designs, particularly for long rods.
