Product description

Our take

The MN is the tip top you reach for as soon as a rod has to take a beating. Its wrapping tang locks the tip onto the blank on top of the glue. On a rod pushed by big fish, this is the build you come back to.

At a glance: rings 5 to 16, tubes 1.6 to 5 mm

  • Reinforced tip top guide with a tang, for spinning and casting rods
  • Long-braced frame, tangle-free profile
  • Wrapping tang that secures the tip beyond simple gluing
  • Ring sizes from 5 to 16, including a 5.5 option
  • Tube inner diameters from 1.6 mm to 5 mm, given in mm and in 1/64 inch
  • Fazlite, Alconite, SiC or Torzite ceramic rings depending on the version
  • Stainless steel or titanium frames, in several finishes (P, CC, BC, Titanium...)
  • Works with braid, fluorocarbon and monofilament

A reinforced frame that protects your line

The wrapping tang

The MN carries a tang on its upper frame. A standard tip top holds by the glue and the tube socket alone. Here you add a wrap that ties the guide and the blank together, and holding power under heavy load moves to another level. The side braces and the sloped frame also keep the line away from the tip section, which limits loops on the cast and on the retrieve.

It makes sense to keep the same logic along the rest of the rod: the MN pairs with tangle-free Fuji guides and a winding thread chosen to match the power of the blank.

Choosing your ring size and tube diameter

The reference reads in two parts. The first figure is the outer diameter of the ceramic ring (from 5 to 16). The second gives the inner diameter of the tube in millimetres, with its 1/64 inch equivalent in brackets: a 6-2(5) takes a 2 mm tip section. Measure the end of your blank with a caliper before ordering, and pick the tightest tube that fits.

  • Rings 5, 5.5 and 6: fine tip sections that need mechanical reinforcement
  • Rings 8 and 10: all-round predator spinning and casting / heavy duty
  • Rings 12 and 16: powerful fishing, big lures, jigging and saltwater or exotic use

On the ceramic side, Fazlite and Alconite cover most builds. SiC sits above them in hardness and heat dissipation, and Torzite gives the thinnest and lightest ring. Every reference is in the spinning and casting tip top guides collection.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to wrap the tang of an MN guide?

Yes, that is the principle of the series. The tube is glued onto the end of the tip section, then the tang is wrapped and coated. This wrap contributes to how the guide holds, it is not just decorative, unlike tip tops that rely on glue alone.
