How to maintain the cork handle on your fishing rod
By Baptiste.
It's closing time, time to take care of your beauties that have filled you with happiness all season long.
After degreasing your cork handle with a sponge soaked in hot water and washing-up liquid, it's time for maintenance.
To do this, you'll need a
pot of cork paste ( https://www.rodhouse.fr/fr/autres-produits-other/1662-pate-pour-reparation-poignees-liege--3290000016621.html ) and some
cork sealer ( https://www.rodhouse.fr/fr/autres-produits-other/646-cork-sealer-3290000006462.html )
Start by locating cracks in the handle and filling them with cork paste.
Once the paste is dry, remove the excess with a piece of fine sandpaper (240 for example), only on the areas where the paste has been applied.
Then, to even out the cork and remove any micro-cracks, give it a good wipe with very fine sandpaper (800 grit, for example).
Finally, to protect your beautiful cork handle, apply cork sealer with a brush.
This little trick will extend the life of your cork handle.
