Our take on the PLS SD18
This is a perforated Fuji reel seat with a particularly long trigger. It is a very popular model for pike fishing with big swimbaits, a real classic! We recommend it if you are building a casting rod for that kind of fishing.

For pike and big swimbaits
A long trigger you spot right away
The first thing you notice is the trigger, which is particularly long. The PLS SD18 is a very popular model for pike fishing with big swimbaits.
The body is perforated for direct contact with the blank. In size terms, it is 138 mm long and weighs 37 g, with an 18 mm inside diameter.
On the other hand, light fishing with small lures is not its strong suit. For that, you will want a more discreet reel seat.
Grips, finishing ring and thread: what goes with it
On the handle side, this reel seat is compatible with grips with a 27 mm O.D and with the WCC finishing ring. It also accepts 33 cm TC17 carbon inserts.
On the thread side, you can finish the joint cleanly with one of these two parts:
- a size 18 spacer
- a size 18 KDPS/ASH, which replaces the original clamping ring
Which size to choose? Size 18, simply. Small tip: check the O.D of your grips before ordering, it needs to be 27 mm.
