Fox Rage Zander Pro Shad Soft Lure
Shad with robust rubber and anti-twist tail with high-frequency vibrations, active from the slowest speeds, particularly effective on slow linear and vertical for zander and perch.
Product description
Our opinion on the Fox Rage Zander Pro Shad
One of the most effective soft lures for zander in our catalog, and one of the rare ones that really justifies the durability argument: the rubber truly holds up better than average against teeth and repeated jig head changes. In Hot Olive and Lemon Tiger especially, it does damage in turbid water and overcast conditions.
What you need to know
- Natural oscillating tail action: subtle side-to-side wobble, high-frequency vibrations
- Anti-twist shape: the tail doesn't lock in the hook on sustained current
- Toned and robust rubber: announced lifespan 5x superior to average
- Active swimming from the slowest speeds, ideal for slow animation
- Roach/small perch profile: imitates zander forage fish in lakes, canals and rivers
- Available colors: Hot Olive, Lemon Tiger, Firetiger, Glitter Perch
- Note: Texas rigging not compatible with this model
On the water: slow swimming that makes the difference on zander
The anti-twist tail: a design conceived for flowing water and slow animations
The tail of the Fox Rage Zander Pro Shad is the element that distinguishes it from most classic paddle-tail shads. Its shape generates a natural side-to-side oscillation, reproducing the movement of a small forage fish swimming effortlessly. This oscillation produces high-frequency vibrations perceived at distance by zander and perch lateral lines, two species particularly sensitive to fine vibration stimuli. The tail shape was also designed to resist flowing water: unlike a paddle that can flatten against the hook on fast retrieve or sustained current, the Zander Pro Shad tail doesn't lock and maintains its swimming action even in difficult hydrodynamic conditions like flooded rivers or bridge current. This is a decisive advantage for river zander anglers who must maintain their lure in current margins without losing swimming action.
Slow linear and vertical: two techniques, one lure
The Zander Pro Shad excels particularly in slow animation, where other shads lose their swimming action due to insufficient speed to activate their paddle. On slow linear retrieve, it imitates a small resting fish, particularly attractive on zander stationed on drop-offs in lakes or along ledges in deep water. On vertical, the lure works during all animation phases without action from the angler. From the bank, it's effective retrieved very slowly along edges or over weeds. On power-fishing, adding a snap is advised to limit line twist.
Four colors to adapt presentation to conditions
The Hot Olive is the most versatile color in the available selection. Its greenish tones naturally imitate forage fish in vegetation-rich waters and remain effective across a wide spectrum of conditions. The Lemon Tiger is the color to deploy in tinted, turbid or low-light water: its warm and contrasting shades maintain good readability where natural colors fade. The Firetiger plays the same aggressive and inciting register, particularly suited to overcast days or flood periods. The Glitter Perch reproduces the profile of a small perch with its glittery reflections, an imitative color effective in clear water on zander that have locked onto young percids as forage fish.
