Pure power. Impressive stiffness of the heel, you immediately sense that you're not here to make concessions: the blank is a heavyweight. And yet, in keeping with the spirit of the entire Lighthouse range, it remains light in the hand and feels capable of agility. When casting, the 8'6 is not at all a handicap to reach the most respectable distances. With a floating wf12, you feel very comfortable to shoot all the power. When you need to fish deep, this 14wt can send a 700-grain S7 ultra-sinking head over 25m without flinching. But it's in combat that this blank plays its major trump card: its enormous reserve of power. It can withstand spectacular levels of braking: tested by us, well beyond the braking capacities of an 11-13 wt fly reel. Faced with opponents on the edge of reasonableness, the 8614 is the weapon you need to take on titanic battles.
Recommendations for use:
This blank should be reserved for XXL opponents: very large catfish (when you can fight them without having to take impossible angles for the carbon) but above all the largest marine fish that can be attacked on the fly: marlin, shark, bluefin tuna, giant trevally...
