Product description

Our take on the SW Wander 95

The Wander set up the sinking pencil genre, and its results have never dropped since. We stock the SW version for sea bass, but it is also formidable on asp. It casts very far, you bring it back like a topwater, and it also catches fish on the way down. It is a classic to keep in the box!

Just under the surface, a sinking pencil that rolls on its own

A natural swim and a very long cast

The Wander is a sinking pencil, a lipless lure that sinks, and a cousin of stickbaits. It set up this genre and you could almost call it a masterpiece. When it comes to casting, the distance is overwhelming, whoever is holding the rod.

On the retrieve it rolls naturally, but we recommend working it like a topwater lure, and it then swims just under the surface. That often makes the difference.

The fall, the other moment when fish bite

And the bite? It does not only come on the swim. As it sinks, the lure shakes its body, the famous Wandering Fall, and that can push a fish to take. Here are three ways to bring it back.

  • A steady retrieve, for its natural roll.
  • Worked like a topwater, to keep it just under the surface.
  • With a pause, to let it sink and trigger the fluttering fall.

At 21 g, it sits within the 10 to 30 g range covered in our guide to sea bass on surface lures, tackle included. On the other hand, this is not a bottom lure. It swims under one metre, so for fish sitting deeper, pick something else. And since it sinks, bring it back before it hits a snaggy bottom.
