Product description

The Rodhouse take

NOCP removes the step that slows everything down at finishing time: colour preserver. The shade you lay on the blank is the one you get back under the epoxy, wrap after wrap. This is the thread we recommend first for a two-tone wrap or a trim band, where the slightest translucency shows.

Sizes A and D, 46 colours

  • Fuji Ultra Poly NOCP polyester thread, pre-treated, no colour preserver needed
  • Size A: the finest diameter, tight turns and a compact wrap
  • Size D: larger diameter, faster to lay on thick guide feet
  • 100 m spools in sizes A and D, large formats of 800 m in size A and 400 m in size D, plus one 1200 m in size D black
  • 46 colours on the 100 m spool, from classic shades to NEON fluos, a narrower selection on the large formats
  • Resistance to UV, ageing and abrasion above nylon
  • Freshwater and saltwater alike, including builds exposed to salt
  • Main wraps, trim bands and accent bands

What NOCP changes at finishing

A colour that stays identical under epoxy

A standard wrapping thread absorbs the finish. The shade darkens, the thread turns slightly translucent and the guide foot shows through, especially with light colours laid on a dark blank. The usual workaround is to apply a colour preserver before the finish, which adds a step, drying time and an extra layer between blank and finish. NOCP is pre-treated: you go straight to the epoxy finish and the result matches the colour chart. One caveat, that treatment leaves the thread a little flatter than a standard Ultra Poly or a nylon. The final gloss comes from the finish anyway.

Size A or size D: choose by guide foot

Size comes down to guide geometry and the look you want, far less to strength: a wrap with tight, well-butted turns and a proper finish takes everything a rod puts through it.

  • Size A: light to medium rods, fine guide feet, gradients and precise patterns
  • Size D: thick feet, extra-heavy rods, exotic species, tuna and trolling

In size A the turns are more numerous and finer, the wrap soaks up less finish and stays lighter, which is why it dominates on spinning and casting builds. Size D, on the other hand, calls for a well-set wrapper and steady tension to avoid a coarse result. On colour, the range covers black, white and fluos, enough to match a wrap to a blank or set off a set of Fuji guides. The rest of the range is gathered in the Fuji winding threads collection.

NOCP Taille A

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a colour preserver with Fuji NOCP thread?

No. The thread is pre-treated, which is what NOCP stands for. You can go straight to the epoxy finish once the wrap is laid, with no intermediate step and no extra drying time.
