The NFC FW 662 Trout rod: 1m98 of pure delight!
[caption id="attachment_806" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Is it just me, or does this photo instantly make you want to get your rod up and go trout stalking???[/caption]I love to seek out all the species of fish that inhabit our waters, but if there's one fishery that's close to my heart and stands out from the rest, it's Trout fishing in small and medium-sized rivers. Indeed, the fish are often modest in size and the streams not very practicable, but the opportunity to fish where hardly anyone else fishes and catch wild and colorful fish is, for me, priceless!
To achieve this, I'm looking for a Trout rod with an action suited to using NPs, spinners or wobbling spoons, but which becomes well rounded in combat to avoid stalling. After having tried many rods, only one became ESSENTIAL: the Fresh Water 662-2 IM from North Fork Composites.

This rod is monstrously versatile for Trout fishing with hard and Metallic lures. Its casting power from 1 to 7g actually allows you to use all the suspending and floating PN on the market up to a size of 65-70 mm (except for very plunging versions where fishing is less controlled ...). For sinking (S) and very sinking (HW or HS) NPs, you need to be more moderate.

For Mepps, up to size 2, this Trout rod is very comfortable and allows precise fishing. In the same way, it also accepts a soft lure when required, even if it's not its first use. Even when fishing with nylon, the bites are very well reproduced. This is due to its marked tip action, ideal for animation and precision casting.
"A round, progressive action"
However, once the fish is hooked, the action becomes very round and progressive. Absolutely no hard points and incomparably smooth power. You'll get pleasure out of 15 cm fish and have no trouble mastering a Trout over 50 cm.
Pleasure! [caption id="attachment_822" align="aligncenter" width="800"] The most beautiful fish to date caught with my FW662-2 IM: a pretty 50 cm sea trout freshly reeled in! This rod has quite a reserve!
Casts are accurate and distances very acceptable for a blank in this category. What's more, its almost 2 m length is not at all a disadvantage, even in crowded conditions. I've rarely been penalized by it. And when it's time to cross the jungle, this rod's twin-blank side becomes a real advantage!
For me, this Trout rod is a real compendium of Pleasure and efficiency. A must-have!
