Over the centuries, accidents and wars have dotted the oceans with shipwrecks. These ships, planes or submarines have become shelters where fish find everything they need: protection from the current, refuge from other species, and an abundance of food. The species of fish that colonize wrecks vary according to geographical area and depth. In the north of France, Cod, Sea bass and Pollack are the fish that populate the many wrecks where the landings took place. In Brittany, wrecks less than 20 meters deep are often occupied by Sea bass, and beyond that by lees. On the Aquitaine coast, you'll find Sea bass and dregs, as well as Meagre / Croaker. In all cases, other species are also present, such as conger eels, juliennes, pout, etc. When fishing on this type of spot, you're likely to catch a very big fish at any moment and break one of your records. Matching blanks

Accurate waypoints and drifts are the most important criteria for successful fishing. Admittedly, some wrecks are poorly mapped. Next comes your technique and equipment. As far as the rod is concerned, length and power will vary according to the fishing area. In any case, it must be able to prevent the fish from returning to the carcass so as not to break the line. For wrecks less than 25 m deep, lures can be handled with a Drift and lift / Straight retrieve / Cast and retrieve. Beyond this depth, we generally switch to vertical fishing or dragging behind the boat, taking care not to get caught in the structure.

  1. NFC MB 739-1 IM 2m21, 25-80gr: The most versatile blank of all. This blank allows you to fish with at least 25gr when casting as well as with 150gr when vertical. Its versatility also comes from the fact that despite its power, it retains excellent resonance. Like most NFCs, it's fast in action and fairly round in action. For wrecks between 15 and 40m, it's a sure bet.
  2. Rainshadow SWS70M 2m13, 30-100gr, verti 100-200gr. Its moderate action makes it very comfortable for Vertical fishing, tiring the fish before the angler. With its power reserve and versatility, this blank has all the qualities you need to fish wrecks between 20 and 45m. The reason we offer it to you is that it has already proved its worth on numerous wrecks in the Cotentin region.
  3. Rainshadow RCLB70XL 2m13, 50-150gr. Once again, this is a very big reference. A blank adored by Meagre / Croaker anglers. This very tapered but very light blank is a monster of power. On wrecks at sea, it targets the biggest fish (pollack, Meagre / Croaker, julienne etc...). It will take 200gr vertically without flinching. Don't hesitate to cut a few centimetres off the heel for vertical fishing. This will make it even rounder and more comfortable.

In this configuration, we recommend Blanks between 7 and 7'3 feet (between 2m13 and 2m21) as this is a very good compromise between comfort and handling. For those who regularly fish on deep wrecks (over 30m) in vertical casting, don't hesitate to turn to the vertical casting configuration.

Our recommended handles

For these 'strong' fisheries, we recommend spinning assemblies usingFull handles. It's effective, easy to fit and protects the blank from rod holders and other shocks that can occur during transport.

Compatible guides

We offer 3Guide packs Fujiof different finishes, corresponding to different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by GuideAlconite ceramics and Inox frameworksThey offer excellent value for money and are ideal for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by Guide with armature. Inox and SIC ceramics. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top-of-the-range Fuji range is represented by Guide rings inTitanium-Torzite. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made of Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, enabling the use of smaller tunnel guides. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
