Drop shot fishing is a very slow, very precise method of fishing which involves using at least one soft lure mounted in a drift with a small sinker at the bottom. It can be used to reach fish in very localized areas, such as riprap or weedbeds. It can also be used to irritate apathetic fish, making them nervous and ultimately provoking an attack of annoyance rather than food. As such, it is often used in winter, the traditional reference period for drop shots, but also throughout the year, around weedbeds and on marked spots, as well as at the end of the season, when the Perch are grouped together and the shoal located by depthfinder. Dropping a drop shot in the bank is a guarantee of enormous success. Start configuration

Matching blanks

For this type of fishing, you need a blank that combines several features. The main one is a highly flexible tip. You need to be able to animate the lure on the spot, without lifting the lead off the bottom. As with all slow fishing, you also need a very resonant blank. Most of the time, the touch is very subtle, so maximum resonance is required. Don't strike for nothing, as each strike scatters the shoal or takes it out of the catching zone. But you also need a very fast blank, because as with any 'slow' technique, where the lure is static, the reaction to the strike has to be immediate so as not to give the fish time to spit it out. And while any blank with tip flex will allow you to drop shot Perch, a dedicated blank designed for this purpose will be much more effective, limiting stalls and maximizing the number of catches on the same spot.

  1. NFC DS 6107-1 Delta 2m08 3-10g. Like most of the blanks in the delta series, this is incredible value for money. Despite its lightness in the hand, its power reserve and sturdiness will enable you to deal with any surprises. Of the three Blanks, it has the most muscular tip.
  2. Rodbuilders' Republic Statement 722 Size: 2m18, 5-15g. With its soft tip and high resonance, this Statement 722 is a perfect match for the program.
  3. NFC DS 761-1 HM 2m28 3-10g. The ultimate blank for this type of fishing. Perfectly adapted action and outstanding resonance for a perfect reading of what's going on underwater. You only strike when you have to and you almost never stall. For those who practice this technique regularly, it's the ultimate weapon.

Our recommended handles

For such light Blanks, we recommend split grip handles to keep the weight of the rod to a minimum. Don't hesitate to give us the desired length between butt and reel foot so that we can adjust the rings. You can also ask us to change the color of the handle kit rings (while stocks last).

Compatible guides

We offer 3 Fuji Guide packs in different finishes, to suit different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by Alconite ceramic Guides with an Inox frame, offering excellent value for money for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by SIC ceramic and Inox-framed Guides. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top of the Fuji range is represented by the Titanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made from Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, so smaller tunnel guides can be used. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
