A leading technique for tracking gold bullion

Like Sea bass, pollock is a very popular fish. It's a pleasant fish to catch, as it responds equally well to both Live bait and lure fishing. Once hooked, it defends itself to the point of making the reel brakes sing, especially in the first few meters... It can be found inshore, but larger fish can be caught in deeper water. Offshore, it's not uncommon to find schools of pollack on shelves or wrecks, with some very large specimens approaching or even exceeding a metre in size. Casting reels offer a real advantage in these conditions. You have better control of the lure on the way down, the grip is more comfortable, the reels are true winches and the whole unit is often lighter. Start configuration

Matching blanks

There are several lure types and animations available for vertical casting. You can fish with soft lures, jigs and elevators, but also with Metallic jigs and slow jigs. In all cases, use short rods with a fairly round action. This means less fatigue when fighting and animating, fewer stalls and better suction when the fish attacks. The rod needs to have some flex but enough nerve to come back into place quickly to make the lure 'fly' on animation and tire the fish on the retrieve.

  1. NFC SJ 604 SM Blank : 1m82 Vertical power 30-120g. This blank is fine, round and very playful. It's not a blank designed for slow jigging, but its action is very similar. It's very pleasant to work with for madai, slow jigging and soft lures on elevators. It's great for fishing at depths of 30 to 40m. It can take slightly more than 120g but won't have enough nerve to be really effective.
  2. NFC SJ 606 SM Dimensions : 1m82 50-200g. Much more powerful than the 604, the 606 is ideal for deep-sea fishing. It has plenty of reserve power. Suitable for soft lure fishing, not slow jigging.
  3. Rainshadow RDR70M Length : 2m13 Vertical power 50-150g. It excels at making jigs fly as we do in France. You'll have no problem using it with soft lures, but let's just say it has fewer advantages for this program. We advise you to cut it at the heel to obtain a length of 1m98. An assembly example can be found on the Blank's product sheet, with a link to the forum.
  4. NFC SLJ 661-1 X-Ray 1m97, 50-150g: This blank features the new 'Air Carbone' technology. This makes it a very light and resonant blank. It's excellent for Madai, slow jigging or soft elevator lures.
  5. Rainshadow REVSJ66M Blank : 1m98, 100-200g : This blank is as technical as it is pretty. The carbon wrap finish is really hot. In fishing action, this translates into a solid, round, powerful and resonant blank. Its minimum power range corresponds to a size 5 Black Minnow on a 60g sinker.
  6. NFC SLJ 662-1 X-Ray 1m97, 100-250g: For anglers stalking between 40 and 60m, this is a very effective blank. Despite its very high high range (Slow jigging use), it can be used from 70g upwards.

Our recommended handles

We offer 2 handle kits. The one with the reel seat in size16 is fine in 90% of cases. Suitable for Daiwa and Shimano reels.

Handle kit with reel seat in size18 is suitable for reels with large feet such as can be found on exotic casting reels like certain Maxels, etc...

Compatible guides

Because of their actions, the blanks have to bend a lot. To prevent the braid from touching the blanks, we prefer to usespiral assembliesBrazilian assembly. A classic Casting Assembly would mean increasing the number of Guides and therefore the weight on the front of the blank. This is obviously not a good idea for several reasons. We propose 3Guide packs Fuji of different finishes, corresponding to different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by theAlconite ceramic Guide and Inox frameThey offer excellent value for money and are ideal for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by theGuides with Inox and SIC ceramic frameworks. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, Fuji's top-of-the-range range is represented by theTitanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made of Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This high-performance ceramic requires less material, enabling the use of smaller tunnel Guides. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
