Straight retrieve fishing for pike-perch can be done from shore or from a boat. In contrast to vertical pike-perch fishing, this technique involves casting a soft lure close to the bottom until it reaches the angler's foot. The animation is often as minimalist as possible in order to fly over the bottom as slowly as possible. This technique can be likened to Bottom bouncing from a distance or to extremely light Drift and lift fishing. In most cases, this technique is practised with soft lures between 4 and 6 inches mounted on lead heads between 5 and 25g.

Suitable blanks

Shore anglers use blanks between 7.2' and 7.6'. From shore, if the posts are far away, you can use blanks up to 8.6' (2m59). A long blank allows you to cast far and control the lure's descent. Zander / Pike-perch are mostly hit on the way down.

NFC SJ 804-1 HM 2m43, 7-28g: This soft-tipped blank is ideal for long-range fishing with a light lead sinker. Its range of use for this technique goes from a 7g lead head on a 4'', to a 17g lead head.
NFC MB 805-1 HM :2m43, 10-30g: For shore fishing, this blank is a real catapult. It starts to express itself with 14g of lead and is at its best with 17g of lead. It accepts 25g of lead head on a 5'' maximum for this technique.
Rodbuilders' Republic PPS86H-2 :2m59, 15-50g, Fast. When the fish stay away from the bank and you need to shoot far, this Blank makes sense. It's perfect for lead heads between 15 and 30g on a 5'' lure.

We offer 3 Fuji Guide packs in different finishes, to suit different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by Alconite ceramic Guides with an Inox frame, offering excellent value for money and suitable for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by SIC ceramic and Inox-framed Guides. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top of the Fuji range is represented by the Titanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made from Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, so smaller tunnel guides can be used. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
