If there's one type of fishing that's perfect for winter, it's vertical zander fishing. Although this technique can be practised all year round, fishing with soft lures presented vertically brings immense pleasures, the famous "tap", but also sometimes major disappointments. Indeed, the Zander, our playmate, is sometimes a very special character. The Zander / Pike-perch can be fussy, fussy, a follower, sometimes even grazing the lure presented flush with the bottom. To get the lure close to the bottom and detect the slightest anomaly transmitted by the line, you need to use a resonant, very resonant blank. Start configuration

Matching blanks

Vertical zander fishing requires a high-performance blank. Blanks are short, responsive and highly resonant. Lure weights vary enormously depending on the sector you're fishing. For maximum sensations, it's important to adapt the power of your blanks to your use.

Rodbuilders' Republic PPS62M: 1m87, 7-28g. This blank is ideal for fishing closed, currentless waters with lead heads between 5 and 17g and 4" and 5" soft lures.

Rainshadow IMMWS62MX: 1m88, X-Fast 5-15gr. Its maximum vertical power range corresponds to a 20gr head + a 4 or 5" lure.

Rainshadow IMMWS68MXF: 2m03, X-fast, 7-35gr. A highly reputed blank for vertical fishing. Very resonant and responsive. It's often recut at the heel to 6.2' (let us know in the comments if you want us to adapt the Winding checks). Its range of use corresponds to leaded heads between 14 and 35g and soft lures between 4 and 6".

Rodbuilders' Republic PPS62MH: 1m87, 15-40g. Without even mentioning the price, this blank is really excellent for vertical zander. The length is perfect for fishing in the sonar beam and it's very responsive. Its range of use corresponds to leaded heads between 14 and 35g and soft lures between 4 and 6".

North Fork Composites SSH637-1 X-Ray: 1m90, 30-70gr. This blank has been specially developed for vertical pelagic zander fishing with lead heads from 30g.

Our recommended handles

Please let us know the desired length between the butt and the reel foot so that we can adjust the rings. You can also ask us to change the color of the handle kit rings (while stocks last). If you wish to shorten your blank, please let us know so that we can adapt the rings.

Compatible guides

The aim of these Guide ramps is not to increase casting distance, but rather to save weight, so as to optimize bottom reading and bite detection. We offer 3 Fuji Guide packs in different finishes, corresponding to different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by Alconite ceramic Guides with an Inox frame, offering excellent value for money and suitable for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by SIC ceramic and Inox-framed Guides. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top of the Fuji range is represented by the Titanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made from Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, so smaller tunnel guides can be used. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
