Since the arrival of lures on the market, most anglers have abandoned fishing with natural baits. Indeed, lure fishing is easier to put into action and brings a more sporting side to fishing. Nevertheless, it has to be said that the Dead bait Assembly is formidable and saves money on fishing tackle. For pike or zander, the Drachkovitch rig is the reference. It involves attaching a live bait like a roach, with a piano wire fitted with triplets and leaded at the head with buckshot. The live bait is killed just before setting. Lure manufacturers can do what they like in terms of finish, but they won't get colors as realistic as a real fish... As for the Live bait/lure result, that's a vast subject we won't go into. Whether you're fishing from a boat or from the shore, the most important thing is to have a rod with plenty of resonance so that you can map the bottom in your head and capture the slightest touch. Matching blanks

Previously, the rods used for Dead bait were long, around 9 feet (2m74). Increasingly, the trend is towards rods between 7.6 and 8.6 feet (between 2m28 and 2m59). As with Zander with lures, we use rods with a pronounced tip action. Depending on the spot, the weight of the buckshot can vary (between 7 and 20gr), plus the Live bait. The most commonly used power ranges are between 15 and 60gr maximum.

  1. Suzuki RXF-20LB-7622m29, 15-40gr, 2pcs : A light, fast-action Japanese blank that will transmit your bites perfectly. Although suitable for shore fishing, it will be particularly appreciated by boat anglers looking for a 2-section blank.
  2. Rodbuilders' Republic PPS86H-2 2m59, 15-50g, 2 sections. Ideal power and length for this fishing technique.
  3. North Fork Composites MB 807-1 HM Blank : 2m43, 15-50g, One-piece. This blank's reputation for resonance is well established. If you don't want to compromise, this blank is perfect.

We offer 3Guide packs Fuji of different finishes, corresponding to different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by GuideAlconite ceramics and Inox frameworksThey offer excellent value for money and are ideal for occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by Guide with armature.Inox and SIC ceramics. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top-of-the-range Fuji range is represented by Guide rings inTitanium-Torzite. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made of Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic.
