Team Rodhouse &Fiiish: The first edition of the zander pro.

Kanalgratis, a Swedish website renowned for its competitions for Pike (Fly VS Jerk) and Perch (Perch pro), organized for the first time a competition focused on Pike-perch: the Zander Pro. The aim of this initiative was to combine the technicality of RodHouse products with the accessibility of lures developed by Fiiish. The two French brands thus naturally decided to join forces for this first edition of the Zander Pro, drawing on many points in common and similar visions. The project took around 6 months to prepare the team, anticipate potential challenges, gather information and draw up a strategy to face the Nordic teams, who are highly skilled in Zander / Pike-perch stalking. The team is made up of two pike-perch specialists, Tony for Rodhouse and Stéphane for Fiiish. The principle of the competition is simple: for 3 days, the 6 participating teams can fish wherever they like in Europe. Three points are awarded each day: one point for the most pike-perches caught, one point for the biggest pike-perch and one point for the best top 5. Each day, fishing techniques and situations are imposed: the first day is dedicated to straight retrieve fishing from the boat (vertical fishing is forbidden), the second day to fishing from the shore, and the third day is free. The team with the most points at the end of the 3 days wins the competition. Start configuration

Matching blanks

  • Day 1: Straight retrieve / Cast and retrieve. During prefishing, the Zander / Pike-perch were between 2 and 7m deep. Using the SJ-703 X-Ray in Casting proved to be very effective with 5 and 10gr Mud Digger. The blank is formidable for casting light lures in reservoirs and therefore covering a maximum amount of ground. The day before and the day of the competition, the weather clearly changed. The sunny weather gave way to cooler, overcast conditions. The fish went deeper and became less active. The Black Minnow 12cm in 12gr proved to be the patern of the moment for deeper fishing. So Tony swapped the SJ 703 X-Ray for a more powerful blank, the Statement 724. The latter is very resonant and perfectly suited to pike-perch fishing in a straight line with a size 3 Black Minnow in 12gr.

  • Day 2: Fishing from shore. Tony and Stéphane opted for the MB 805-1 HM to cast at long distances, control the animation and provide good amplitude when hooking. This blank's range of use means it can be used to cast a 10-gr Mud digger as well as an 18-gr Black Minnow. Despite its 2.43m, it's still very sensitive and perfectly suited to Zander / Pike-perch fishing to detect the smallest details.

  • Day 3: Free fishing. Tony and Stéphane were finally able to fish vertically. Zander / Pike-perch lure fishing. We fished in 11m of water. The combo of the day was the Mud Digger in 10gr. No surprises for the Blanks, as Rainshadow's Immortal 62 and 68MX were out. Tony mainly used the 62MX and it was clearly the most appropriate blank. This blank, specially built for the Walleye (WS), has built up a solid reputation for vertical fishing.

Compatible guides

What could be better than the best quality Guide to equip these Blanks and make them true Rolls Royces? Tony and Stéphane logically opted for Fuji ring packs in KR Concept, Titanium Torzite finish.

In order to offer 3 different price ranges, we propose 3 Fuji Guide packs in different finishes, corresponding to different frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by Alconite ceramic Guides with an Inox frame, offering excellent value for money, corresponding to occasional use. The frame of these Guides is made of Inox with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and a high heat dissipation rate for the braid, but take care not to spool dry fly braid onto these guides. The second level of the range is occupied by SIC ceramic and Inox-framed Guides. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, the top of the Fuji range is represented by the Titanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made from Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, enabling the use of smaller tunnel guides. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
