Perfect for tug-of-war

Reservoir fishing consists of fishing for Trout that have been released into a body of water designed for year-round fishing, even during closed seasons. This practice, which is widespread in other countries such as Italy and Japan, has only recently arrived in France, but since there has been a championship with competitions, the number of reservoirs and participants has continued to grow. The principle is simple: the aim is to catch as many fish as possible in a given time. This is speed fishing. Lures include swimfish, crankbaits, blades, surface lures, wobblers and buttons. Buttons are micro wobbling spoons covered with hair to imitate insects. They can weigh as little as 0.2gr. All with single barbless hooks. The rod limit is set at 7.3 feet (2.20m). Matching blanks

As you can see, since Trout is basically a jumping fish with a tendency to unhook, and to preserve them, single barbless hooks are mandatory, we use light rods that will absorb the fish's movements and limit unhooking. As fishing time is limited, rather than changing lures, we change rods. Generally, participants use at least 3 rods with different lures. In the morning, fish are less wary. Fishing is done with flashy lures close to the bank. When the fish have heard hundreds of lures fall into the water, they become more difficult to lure. Casting distance then becomes very important.

  1. Rodbuilder's Republic Area Super Flanker 1m88 0.5-5gr, 2 sections : This blank is very versatile. It's equally at home with ripples, cranks and soft lures. The action is very different from the TR68 (very round). This Area Super Flanker is faster, less supple but still super fun and super sensitive.
  2. Matagi TR68 Super big pound 2m03 1.5-3.5g, 2 sections égaux : A new blank specially designed for the area. Its progressive action makes it ideal for speed fishing and eliminates the risk of stalling.
  3. Rodbuilders' Republic PPS 610 UL-2 2m08, 0.8-4g, 2 sections : A longer blank for longer casting. When there's a lot of fishing pressure on the spot and you need to cast small lures at long distance, this blank makes the difference. The ideal blank for the end of the run. It's a progressive blank that avoids stalls and offers incredible value for money.

Our recommended handles

In general, Trout rods have very short handles, although in the Area you can go a little longer to optimize casting. We have selected 3 skeleton handle kits that you can mount with the reel foot set to the length you want.

You can ask us to change the color of the handle kit rings by adding a comment (while stocks last).

Compatible guides

We offer 3Guide packs Fuji of different finishes, corresponding to different budgets and frequencies of use. The first segment of the range is occupied by theAlconite ceramic Guide and Inox frameThese rings are ideal for occasional use, offering excellent value for money. The frame of these rings is made of stainless steel with an anti-corrosion coating. The Alconite ceramic provides good glide and heat dissipation for the braid. Take care, however, not to spool dry braid onto these rings. The second level of the range is occupied by the Guides with Inox and SIC ceramic frameworks. In this Guide range, the frame is still made of coated stainless steel, but the ceramic is made of Fuji SIC, which offers better glide and greater resistance. Finally, Fuji's top-of-the-range range is represented by theTitanium-Torzite Guides. The Titanium frame is much lighter and, above all, totally insensitive to corrosion. The ceramic is made of Torzite, another Fuji proprietary material that enables the braid to glide perfectly over the ceramic. This ultra-high-performance ceramic requires less material, enabling the use of smaller tunnel guides. Less weight = greater sensitivity and performance.
