A surface pole session with Stephane Montailler

Une session perche en surface avec Stephane Montailler

Surface Perch session! But not only!

After the summer vacations, it's Perch time again. Here's a look back at an unforgettable autumn outing that every angler dreams of...

Saturday ...

Direction to a lake for this session and it's no sooner do we arrive at the parking lot to prepare our float tubes that I point out to Julien the presence of numerous birds on the stretch of water. I know the place well, there are a lot more birds than usual: it smells of Perch on the surface!

We start by taking our floats down to the beach, and then it's a shock... The Perch are in front of us, in 30 cm of water, chasing Live baits cornered against the sand: a real orgy!

We quickly set up some surface lures and bang! It's banging in all directions, it's euphoria!!! I'm armed with my trusty IMMWS 62 L from Rainshadow and I'm getting a monster kick out of every fish.

As time goes by, the Perch move down a little in the water layer and it's now with crank and supple that we hit these fabulous fish.

Fish after fish after fish, and all of a sudden it's a real rifle shot that I take in the arm. Touche! The fight is heavier on my 62L and it's finally a magnificent Zander / Pike-perch that ends up in the landing net: 75cm! Wow!!!! On top!!!!!

We'll continue the day looking for pike with our Rainshadow IMMP70MH armed with soft lures and we'll end the day with the following balance: two wads of Perch with a max at 44.5, a 75cm Zander / Pike-perch and three pike. We're on top!

Sunday ...

From the very first casts, the Perches are active and we know we're in for a giggle.... But we've already had our fill of Perch the day before. So we decide to move on to the Zander / Pike-perch.

.

Julien has taken his Rainshadow IMMWS 62MX but I haven't. Too bad, I'll use my little IMMWS 62L to go after the pike-perch... And it pays off! Boom boom, two pike-perch dry for me, one for Julien, add two loads of Perch: the weekend's about to end up as something for the mentally retarded. Which will be the case by adding a 70 Zander / Pike-perch and a 110 pike-perch by Julien, on his IMMP70MH.

.

Unforgettable!
