Hello Colin, can you introduce yourself and the area you fish?

Like many people, it was my father who introduced me and my 2 brothers to fishing at an early age, first with Toc in Alpine rivers. I'm now 22 and I'm more passionate than ever about fishing, a passion I share with my brothers as often as possible.

I'm near Marseille and fish mainly in the Mediterranean Sea. I'm a jack-of-all-trades and I also fish in freshwater, from the shore, in a kayak and by boat, using a wide range of techniques (in fact, I fish for all fish, everywhere, all the time ^^), with a preference for lure fishing.

Colin, here with a commercial blank that he completely disassembled and reassembled to suit his tastes! That's what rodbuilding is all about!

Why did you choose to use homemade equipment? What does rodbuilding bring to fishing?

I started making my own lures quite a few years ago. I love fishing with things I've tinkered with in my garage, and I came naturally to rodbuilding. It's a logical next step.

Two things are really important to me:

  • I'm having a blast riding my rods, that's the main thing ;-)
  • the outstanding quality of the blanks offered on the site. Once tried, it's impossible to go back in my opinion.

The fact that I can custom-make my rod allows me to adapt to all types of fishing. I can really shape it the way I want, and that's the overwhelming advantage of rodbuilding for me. Having a rod that's exactly what you need brings a huge amount of comfort once you're out on the water.

What are your favorite blanks? Can you introduce them to us?

The very first rod I rode was a MATAGI TR86 Super Tuna-H for tuna lures.

This blank is awesome! It patates small lures at an impressive Distance and I find it very enjoyable in combat. For fish up to 40kg it's a treat. It's also ideally suited to shore fishing for Catfish. Its impressive power reserve means you can quickly bridle beautiful fish. It's always a real Pleasure to fish with this rod.

I then mounted a TR74 Super Mebaru-L still from MATAGI for small fine fishing and here again it's a real treat. This is obviously the rod I've spared the least. Initially designed for gobies, it has caught pelamids up to 3kg, Carp up to 10kg and many other fish. It's always a Pleasure to be at the water's edge with it. [caption id="attachment_878" align="aligncenter" width="800"] MATAGI's TR 74 is the unanimous choice of Rodhouse. This blank is the ultimate rockfishing weapon[/caption].

I also have a RAINSHADOW RX8 XST 1025 for shore and boat fishing. It casts small jigs very well at long distances to reach pelamid hunts. I also use it to fish for barracudas, tassergals and other wolffish on the fly, with soft lures and PN.

Finally, I have a huge crush on the nano 8'' from BLACK HOLE. I haven't had a chance to fish with it yet but the grip and first impressions suggest that this blank is going to be a real killer on big fish. I can't wait to bend it!

What future blanks are you planning to mount and for what use?

Soon, I plan to mount a RAINSHADOW RCKJB508-600 for heavy jigging on exo and Live bait fishing in kayaks. It's a proven blank and I can't wait to add it to my collection.

But before that I'm going to put together a RCLB 70 XL for vertical Catfish fishing. It's a blank that inspires confidence with unbeatable value for money, business to follow....
